Pizza in bed
Trudged to New World in the gloomy evening light and bought ingredients.
Walked home and made pizza.
Now eating said pizza in bed. Consists of paper thin slices of chorizo, mushrooms, tarragon, luscious kalamata olives, semi-dried tomatoes, dollops of cream cheese, camembert, on a tomato and herb sauce laden base.
Baby spinach leaves lightly dressed with lemon juice and olive oil.

My cat-lover of a flatmate presented us with gloriously full bowls of this kick-ass soup for dinner this week. The corriander makes it. Photo by James.

These piquant peppers are phenomenal to cook with. Tiny slices of carrot and bay leaves add a vibrant touch to the contents of these tins of Mexican magic.

Chicken, chorizo, courgette and semi-dried tomato...
Fry diced chicken breast in olive oil until cooked through (use the oil from the semi-dried tomatoes if possible - it’s full of flavour). Add roughly chopped chorizo, semi-dried tomatoes and dried oregano, cooking until chicken has browned nicely and the chorizo is starting to turn crisp. Add courgettes, sliced into rounds, and canned whole peeled tomatoes (skip the juice). Cover, and...

Just ate an entire container of hummus in one sitting.
heartsandsugarskulls asked: I am a homeskillet with a question. Well actually not a question, just a yarn about my desserts. Well, last night for dessert I indulged in marinated tamarillios with ricotta cheese that had previously been mixed with lemon juice and honey. Tonight I am making tart aux pommes which will be accompanied with vanilla and cookie dough ice cream. I am going to be extremely obese very, very soon. I am...

Not actually 14 years old
Pea and mint soup. Recipe here. I upped the potatoes, and dolloped caramelised garlic on top (bake whole, peeled garlic cloves at 180 degrees celsius in a covered dish with olive oil and brown sugar until they start to colour).
Chorizo, chilli, garlic, red wine, tomato and olive pasta.

Crystallised
I remember making lemonade scones as a kid and feeling really smug that they required only three ingredients (flour, lemonade and cream). Then Sunday afternoon a Hungry and Frozen update flies into my inbox with a seriously cool adaptation of this fun childhood recipe. Check out her blog if you haven’t already, it’s truly inspiring. Then make these and eat them in your matching...

Chorizo and fennel pasta
This is for darling Nicola.
As onions sweltered and tomatoes turned soft, I found myself having to stretch this to feed six by adding more and more liquid. This meant lots of sauce and not enough substance. So really go wild on the ingredients you want to stand out. Adjust as intuition tells you and how many hungry faces you wish to please - you won’t find any numbers in this recipe.

Smoked potato and leek soup
Heat a few good lugs of olive oil in a large pot. Add 5 cloves roughly chopped garlic, 1/4 cup chopped chorizo or hot salami and as much smoked paprika as you feel is necessary. After a minute or two add 1 finely sliced leek. Cook over a low-medium heat until the leek is soft, adding more olive oil if necessary. Add 8-10 unpeeled and finely diced red-skinned potatoes and a healthy shaking of dried...
